“Bonnie” Welker
Vonda Mae “Bonnie” Walker Welker, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
Bonnie was born August 28, 1928 in Ogden, Utah. The daughter of Wallace Otis Walker and Alta Mary Wallwork.
On May 29, 1952 she married her eternal companion Adam John Welker. Six years later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple.
Bonnie developed a successful career through working a number of dedicated years at IRS in Ogden, Utah. However, in 1979 she chose to leave this promising career to spend her entire time with her family which she truly loved. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and South America. Bonnie and Adam served LDS missions in New York City and San Jose, California. She loved the work and the people. In addition, she served with her husband faithfully in local service missions and made many friends while working in the Ogden LDS temple. She held numerous callings in the LDS church, including leadership positions and was known for her charitable giving and love for others. Mother's sole focus was to ensure her family was together in this life and for eternity. She inspired many wonderful and special family traditions which unified her family in the bonds of love and will continue for generations. She especially enjoyed giving gifts at Christmas that required each of us to solve a puzzle before getting the prize. She would say “When you pay the price something special happens.” She paid the price by working tirelessly for the benefit of her family and all those she met. She had a special way of being warm and loving to everyone around her. Mother was outgoing and was loved by those who knew her.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband Adam, together for 61 years; Steven (Lynnette) Welker, David (Kelly) Welker, Deborah (Paul) Lambert, eleven grandchildren Ryan, Collin, Candice, Brandon, Adam, Kristin, Kelsey, Jared, Marie, Annie, and Will, and one great-grandchild, Redder. She is also survived by her siblings Beverly Rasmussen, Wayne Walker, and N. Kay Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild Maren.
