W. Christian Bouwhuis
NORTH OGDEN a" W. Chris Bouwhuis, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 15, 2010.
He was born February 25, 1918, in Snowville, Utah, to Frederick and Margaret Bosgeiter Bouwhuis. He was the youngest of nine children, with five sisters and three brothers. He was educated in Idaho and attended Weber State College.
Chris met his sweetheart, LaVora May Pinkham, in 1942 and they were married at the Bushnell Army Hospital Chapel in Brigham City on April 21, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of four sons.
Chris served with the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing action in the Pacific Theater, and was honorably discharged.
He held various jobs throughout his life beginning with farming and ranching. He was also an auto mechanic at the Browning Chevrolet dealership in Ogden. He retired as a welder from Weber Basin Water Conservancy District.
Chris was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in various callings including Scout Master. He found the most joy in serving in the Young Men''s organization.
He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his sons. Chris'' family will miss his warm smile, loving personality and endless hugs and kisses.
Surviving are his wife, LaVora, of North Ogden; two sons, Brent Bouwhuis, Palm Desert, CA; Lee (Julie) Bouwhuis, Plain City; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many extended family members.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and two sons, Ray C. and Clair E. Bouwhuis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, Utah.
