Waldo Arthur Spencer

Waldo Arthur Spencer, formerly of Ogden and Layton, passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle on October 8, 2011.

He was born May 9, 1916 in Lost Creek, UT to Austin Jabez Spencer and Hannah Elizabeth Price. He married Deltha Dixon on March 31, 1941 in Reno, Nevada. Vows were solemnized in the LDS Manti Temple on June 28, 1945.

He graduated from North Sevier High School, served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed at Defense Depot Ogden and retired in 1973. He was an active member of the LDS faith, serving as ward and stake clerk, Ogden Temple worker, name-extraction worker, and indexing worker. He and his wife served a mission to Louisville, Kentucky from 1983 to 1984.

Survived by daughters and spouses: Geneel DePierro (Sonny), Camille McNeil (Kay), Cindy Sliger (Mike); brother Quinn Spencer; sister Leona Huntsman; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Deltha, parents, infant son Sherrill, three sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit family from 12:45 to 1:45 prior to services at the mortuary. Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.
