Wallace E. Allen WASHINGTON TERRACE – Wallace Eugene Allen, 87, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his home. He was born on April 15, 1923 in Ogden, Utah to John Henry and Elfie Woolsey Allen. After graduation from Ogden High in 1941, Wallace joined the U.S. Army Air Corps. Following his military service he owned and operated Allen’s Auto Service and continued his education at Weber State College. He served for 33 years at Hill Air Force Base in the Physiological Training Unit. Following his retirement from Hill, he worked for Parker Hannifin as a security guard. He married Berna “Beverly” Rapko on August 10, 1950. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 9, 1968. Wallace was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as a Gospel Doctrine Teacher, in the Cub Scouts and in the High Priests Group. At the time of his death he was serving in the Branch Presidency of the Washington Terrace Rehabilitation Center. Wallace also served as an Ogden Temple worker for 12 years. Everywhere he went he tried to make a friend. As a child in school, the kids loved to have Wally read. He was a skilled mechanic who could fix anything. Wally was one of everyone’s all time favorite people to be around. He was a world traveler and visited 46 States within the United States and many countries. He had a great memory and could remember specific details along with being a great storyteller. Wally wanted to express special thanks for good friends, Adona, June and Ruth – “I was so fortunate to have met them”. Wally showed kindness to other patients at Huntsman Cancer Institute – “he was truly a blessing to them”. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Huntsman Cancer Center and also Intermountain Hospice and suggest that donations be made to Huntsman Cancer Center. Surviving are three daughters and three sons, Susan (Robert – deceased) Nunn, Spring Hill, FL; Karen Allen, Ogden; Kathy (Mike) Dennis, Syracuse; Jeffrey (Sheri) Allen, West Haven; Jon E. Allen, Roy; Gregory (Janet) Allen, Layton; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with one on the way. Also surviving are a sister, Doris Monsen, Washington Terrace; and a sister-in-law, Avalon Allen, South Ogden. Wallace was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, son-in-law, Robert Nunn, sister, Della Thompson, brothers, Kenneth and Jack and brother-in-law, Gale Monsen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Family will visit with friends at the mortuary on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Send condolences to the family at: www.lindquistmortuary.com
