Wallace Garner
February 22, 1923 – December 15, 2016
Wallace was born a Preemie in Davis County, Utah to Joseph Clarence and Dora Beesley Garner. He spent a lot of his youth with his Grandma Caroline Beesley and Grandma Garner. At 17 years old he worked for the CCC during the depression. At age 19 he was drafted into the Army and was in the thick of action in the Pacific during WWII. He worked various jobs in Utah after being discharged and then moved to Minnesota. In Minnesota he worked numerous jobs including the paper mills. After moving back to Utah, he worked at and retired from Hill Air Force Base.
He married Hazel Harrington and together they had two children, Duane Wallace Garner and Ardell Garner Schultz. They later divorced. Upon moving back to Utah, he married Vonda Talbot and they lived in Layton, Utah until she passed away. In 1998 he married Jean Goff. She passed away January 2013.
Wallace loved the outdoors, golfing, hunting, fishing and traveling. One of his most treasured times in life was when he was a contestant on the Price is Right and won the grand showcase. Wallace and Jean spent many winters in Quartzsite, AZ.
Wallace is survived by his half-sister JoAnn Fulks of Yakima, WA; son Duane and daughter Ardell and many step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda May Garner, brother Clifford Eugene, and grandparents, wives, Vonda and Jean.
Graveside services will be held Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, So. Ogden. Friends may visit family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
