Walter Francis Murphy

April 21, 1936 — December 28, 2022

Layton

Walter Francis Murphy, our Dad and Grandpa, passed away unexpectedly on December 28th in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. His children Celestina (Matthew), Krista and Terry (Tealey); his grand-daughter Alexa (Vic), and his great-grand daughters Myla and Ayla. He is preceded in death by Maria, his wife of 44 years. They gave us a happy life, and always made us feel adored.

Walter was born on April 21, 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts and moved West as a young man. He met Mom in London, and they were married in 1966 by his brother, Father William Murphy, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Words cannot express how much our Dad and Grandpa meant to us and how much we’re going to miss him. He was our world. Because of him, we felt unconditional love every day of our lives. All he ever wanted was for his family to be happy. He was selfless, kind, supportive, encouraging, fun, smart, determined, faithful, courageous, a great sport, the world’s greatest Dad and Grandpa and most of all, he was LOVE.

We will spend the rest of our lives making him proud, and his legacy will live on through us. We will laugh together, cry together, support each other, love each other, encourage each other, have fun, and make sure we always take care of each other. We will never forget him; he is in all of us.

We were so blessed to have him for our Dad and Grandpa, and thank God for him every day. We know he’s with Mom now, and they are watching over us. We miss them both every day, and are grateful for the amazing life they gave us.

We’re appreciative to our family in Boston and Ireland for all the love and well-wishes they sent through the years. It made him happy to know you were thinking of him.
