Walter Forman Parrish
Centenarian
Our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, and Great-great grandfather, Walter Forman Parrish passed away peacefully in Kaysville, Utah at 103 years old. He left an incredible legacy that spans more than 103 years. Walter was born September 11, 1914 on a ten-acre farm in Kaysville, Utah to Warren Asa and Willmetta Forman Parrish. He grew up with six brothers and one sister.
He married his sweetheart Pearl Wright on September 19, 1936. They were married 73 years until her passing in July 13, 2009. Together they raised four children: Walt (Hazel) Parrish, Brent (Jeanine) Parrish, Joan (Noal) Johnston, and Robert (Maddy) Parrish.
Walter graduated from Davis High School in 1933 and later attended Weber State University. Walt was brilliant, innovative and very creative. He was employed in the auto repair business, the Salt Lake Army Depot, and Hill Air Force Base repairing military aircraft. He was dedicated to our country’s defense.
Walter has a great sense of humor and enjoyed life. He loved adventures and learning, and sharing his talents with others. He was a great teacher to his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time in Overton, Nevada with Pearl. He enjoyed painting, poetry, reading, and was the happiest when he was tinkering in his garage.
Walter was a member of the LDS church and enjoyed many adventures as a scout master. He served many friends and family throughout his life. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Walter loved sharing his wisdom with others. His family enjoyed all the stories of his youth and growing up. He was an amazing man that witnessed so much in his time on Earth. He left a great legacy.
Walter loved being a father and grandfather. In his last years he loved spending time with his great-grandchildren. Walter and Pearl have seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Walter was preceded in death by his wife Pearl, his sister, six brothers and his great-great grandson Aiden Walter.
Walter will be greatly missed. He was a kind, and gentle soul and his family is so grateful for the time they were able to spend with him. His family is thankful for all the wonderful caregivers at the Villas at Baer Creek, Symbii Hospice, and the friendship of the residents there.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Main Street LDS Chapel, 500 S. Main Street, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family Friday, February 9, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah.
