OGDEN – Our dear Dad, Walter Sadowy, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 7, 2010, after a very short illness.
Dad was born in Yonkers, New York on the 22nd of September 1915. At the young age of 14, he went with his parents to Poland. Returning to the United States four years later, he never saw his parents again.
He met our mother while in the CCC Camp. They were married for 56 years before her death in 1997.
Dad worked for the Utah General Depot for 32 years. His goal was to be retired for as many years as he had worked, which he did.
Our Dad was an avid fisherman, spending many days each summer on Willard Bay or Pine View Dam with his pole, reel and worms, as well as ice fishing in the winter. He also enjoyed working in his yard which displayed beautiful roses. Dad grew his garden, with so much pride and joy.
For 13 years, Dad lived alone and was never wanting to be a burden to anyone. Many friends and neighbors were so good to help him. This meant so much to his two daughters who lived so many miles away.
Dad is survived by his two daughters, Pat (Bob) Feaman, Nephi, UT; and LeeAnn (Dick) Rumbaugh, Sparks, NV; four grandchildren, Kris Frampton, Jana Broadhead, Tim and Jamie Rumbaugh, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Tessie Sadowy, his wife, Verna Eliason Sadowy and one grandson, Bart R. Feaman.
We wish to extend a very special thanks to Dad’s friends and neighbors who have loved and cared for him.
“We Love You Daddy!”.
Pat, LeeAnn and Families
