Walter Grant Seegmiller returned to his Father in Heaven surrounded by his family on April 19, 2016 in Layton, Utah.
Grant was born July 11, 1931 in Ogden, Utah to Walter William and Maida Roundy Seegmiller. Grant graduated from Weber High School in 1949.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1951, serving in San Antonio, Texas, Columbus, Ohio and at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippine Islands. After completing his military service, Grant served an LDS mission in the New England States from 1956-1958.
After returning home, he met the love of his life, Sharon Boothe, whom he adored for the remainder of his life. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on November 7, 1958. To that union, five wonderful, stalwart sons were born: Brian (Denise), Todd (Linda), Mark (Stacey), Greg (Pam), and Colin (Lacy).
Grant graduated from Weber State College in 1966 with a Bachelor’s degree in History and English. This experience cultivated his love for literature.
Grant was employed by Fife Rock Products, Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City, Thiokol, and the Utah Department of Employment Security in Vernal and Davis County. He retired from the State in 1992.
Grant and Sharon are the devoted grandparents of 29 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Grant diligently served the Lord in numerous capacities throughout his life. Grant enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading. He loved to travel anywhere from Escalante to the foreign missions of his boys. Grant loved spending time with his family.
Grant is survived by his wife and children. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark, his sister Varine Hall and brother Dennis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Tabernacle, 198 W. Center Street, Kaysville. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
