Wanda Joyce Bennett
Wanda Joyce (Bloom) Bennett, known since childhood as "Joyce", was born March 5, 1921 in Kemmerer, Wyoming to William (Bill) Bloom and Irene (Wainwright) Bloom, a railroad engineer and a schoolteacher. Joyce passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the age of 87.
At age 14, her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho where Joyce graduated from Pocatello High School. At age 18, she met and married Verl T. Bennett of Virginia, Idaho in the Salt Lake City Temple, and set up a family home with Verl in Pocatello. Her first two children, Dale T. and Barbara Joyce were born in Pocatello before the family moved to Northern California where Verl found work painting railroad bridges throughout the Northern part of the State.
In 1944, they alighted in Oakland where Verl established his own Verl T. Bennett Painting Company. Marvin Ray, (Myrna) Lanae and Connie Irene were born in Oakland. She lived in Oakland for 44 years when in 1986 she served an LDS mission with her companion husband, in Florida. Upon returning, Joyce moved with Verl to Kaysville, Utah where they have resided until her recent death. She is survived by her husband, five children, 20 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 East Crestwood Road. Friends and family may call Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to all at the Avalon Care Center and at Apple Tree Assisted Living for the loving care given to Joyce in her final days.
