Wanda L. Brown
CENTERVILLE – Wanda L. Brown, 98, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 of causes incident to age.
Wanda was born May 11, 1915 the daughter of Thomas David and Thirza Mahala Watson Little in Glendale, Utah and grew up in Cedar City, Utah. She attended grade school, middle school and graduated from Cedar City High School. She graduated from Branch Agriculture Junior College.
She was very active in social and meaningful school board work. She was known for her beautiful dancing talent and traveled all over the state with her partner and two other couples, teaching high school and college students how to enjoy ballroom dancing. Wanda did modeling and was voted Miss Cedar City in 1935 which she enjoyed, attending meetings for that year.
She got her first job in the Bank of Southern Utah where she worked as a bookkeeper, teller and stenographer. Wanda went to Salt Lake and worked in Walker Bank for several years. There she met Harry Kenneth Brown and a year later was married. They spent a year in Idaho and came back to Kaysville where Ken was employed at Clover Club Food Company where he became General Manager of Plant Operations. They became the parents of three sons, Gregory L. (Tony) Brown, Desert Hot Springs, CA; Bradley (Kathy) Brown, Farmington; Rod (Nancy) Brown, Omaha, NE; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
After raising her children and being active in their schooling, Wanda took a job with First Security Bank at Hill Air Force Base where she became Branch Manager for several years before retiring.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings throughout her life. Together with her husband Ken, they served faithfully as ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple. Wanda enjoyed traveling, golfing, reading, quilting and was known for her exceptional cooking.
Ken passed away in 1994. She then moved to Centerville where she enjoyed her life with friends and her devoted sons and families.
Preceded in death by her husband Ken, four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Centerville LDS Ward Chapel, 900 S. 400 E. Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
