Wanda L. Dallinga
WASHINGTON TERRACE - Wanda Louise Dalley Dallinga, 84, returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 15, 1924 in Ogden, a daughter of George Henry and Fern Dot Fullmer Dalley. She lived in San Francisco, California as a small child. She grew up in Ogden where she attended Ogden City Schools, graduating from Ogden High School in 1941.
On January 12, 1942, Wanda married John R. Dallinga in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married for 66 wonderful years. They moved to Washington Terrace where she lived for the remainder of her life.
Wanda raised her son Dennis alone while her husband was serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various Ward and Stake Callings including Jr. Sunday School Coordinator, Primary teacher and in the Stake Sunday School. She most loved serving in the Relief Society at Mt. Ogden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Following the death of her father she worked as a babysitter to help support her mother and sisters. She later worked at L.R. Samuels, the Officers Club at Defense Depot Ogden, Defense Depot Ogden, and the Internal Revenue Service. She later retired from I.R.S.
She was a member of the Machinist Auxiliary. She was a longtime member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Prickly Pear Camp. Wanda loved to Square Dance. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved hand work and loved to read. Her hands were never idle. She loved camping and hiking. She loved babies and would always stop to see and talk to them. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Wanda was a compassionate person who took care of her mom, stepdad, and aunt. She always lent a helping hand to other. She was a true and loving friend to all and was very generous to everyone, even strangers on the street. Throughout her life she was known for her beautiful smile. She was a meticulous housekeeper and an excellent cook. Her family was very important to her and she was important to her family. She lived a life full of charity.

Surviving is her beloved husband, Jack, of Washington Terrace. She was blessed with four wonderful children: two sons, Dennis L. (Donna) Dallinga, Clearfield; Bruce J. Dallinga, Clinton; two daughters, Linda (Richard) Thorsted, North Ogden; and Robin L. (Gary) McLellen, Clinton. She has 23 grandchildren and was known as Nanna to her 40 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is her sister, Beverly Kay Binetti, Sunnyvale, CA.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Joseph LeRoy Willett, two sisters, Helen Williams and Lois Marchese, daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Dallinga, grandson, Gary McLellen, granddaughter, Lisa Pirtle and great-grandson, Payton Dallinga.
The family expresses special thanks to the staffs at Mt. Ogden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and McKay-Dee Hospital for the loving care Wanda received.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 5th Ward Chapel, 350 West 5100 South, with Bishop Wayne Funk officiating.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
