WANDA SMITH WOOD
1915-2007
FARMINGTON—Wanda Smith Wood, 91, left this life on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, to return home and be greeted by her loving husband and parents. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she spent her life serving those she loved.
Born December 30, 1915, in Garland, Utah, she was the oldest daughter of Clyde C. and Emeline Viola Pickering Smith. Raised in Centerville, Utah, Wanda graduated from Davis High School in 1934 and married Newell B. Wood on October 20th of that same year. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Wanda and Newell lived in Clifton, Idaho, Garfield, Utah, and spent nearly sixty years in Farmington, Utah, where they raised their children, Nanette and Brian. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Loved ones will always remember her giving heart and delicious chocolate chip cookies.
Wanda was a passionate shopper, an avid bowler, a game night enthusiast, a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and a Charter Member of the Jr. Literary Club. She retired from the Davis County Clerks office after many years of service. Wanda also loved handiwork and made beautiful afghans and needlepoint prints that loved ones will forever cherish.
A lifelong, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wanda enjoyed working with Newell in the Ogden Temple and had a strong testimony of the gospel and the Savior.
She is survived by her children, Nanette (Claine) Stenquist of South Ogden, Brian N. (CoLene) Wood of Bountiful, brothers Dale C. (Dorothy) Smith of Sacramento, CA. and Wallace B. (Lorraine) Smith of Millbrae, CA. six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two siblings and a child.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the loving care and support provided by Apple Village and Access Hospice staff with special thanks to Loydene, Ina, Annette, Sharon and Julie for their devoted care.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington Rock Chapel, 272 N. Main St. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church. Interment, Centerville City Cemetery.
