Warren Benjamin Dowdle Sr.
Warren Benjamin Dowdle Sr. passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Coventry Assisted Living Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Warren was born December 8, 1924, in Salt Lake City to Hugh Jed Dowdle and Carrie Lewis. He was the fourth of nine children.
He served in the US Navy (Seabees) during WWII. After returning from the war, he met Clara Louise Ellis at the movie theater in Layton. They were married July 16, 1946. Warren and Clara made their home in Layton raising a family of nine children. Clara passed away September 6, 2005.
Warren was a member of the LDS Church. He was a hard worker and often worked more than one job at a time. He worked at Barlow Reality, Kowley Drugs, Western Auto & Supply, Layton Furniture, and retired from HAFB with 37 years of employment as an Incoming Quality Inspector.
After his retirement, he continued to work part time for several years as a night watchman for Freeport Center.
He is survived by his children, Warren Benjamin Dowdle Jr., James (Terry) Dowdle, Patrick (Susan) Dowdle, Gregory (Virginia) Dowdle, Shree (Alan) Nance, Erlene (Stephen) Tanner, Bradley Dowdle, Fred (Jennie) Dowdle, son-in-law, Bill Wiggins, sister, Luella Ann Murphy, 42 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, wife, Clara and daughter, Cora Lou Clark Wiggins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
The family would like to thank the Coventry for the caring services provided during the past four years. We are also very grateful to his Hospice team and their care and support during the last two months.
