Warren Verl Kimber passed away July 14, 2013 at his home in Moab, Utah surrounded by his loving family.
Verl was born December 22, 1935 in Ogden, Utah to Charles Eldred and Ila Gwen Holman Kimber. He grew up in the Ogden area and attended Ogden High and Ben Lomond High. He was a member of the LDS Church. In June, 1958 he was drafted by the Army and stationed at Fort Meyer, Virginia, where he was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard. He married Barbara Jorgensen in February of 1959. Together they had five children and resided in Woods Cross. Verl coached little league baseball and was a member of the league presidency. His first marriage ended in April, 1985. He worked for Chevron Chemical where he was a supervisor. He retired in 1992. He then married Helen Shorthair in December 1993. Verl loved to play golf, go fishing and camping and would never turn down a game of Pinochle or Back Alley Bridge.
He is survived by his wife Helen of Moab; four sons; Jeff of Bountiful, Mark (Sherrie) of Centerville, Chuck (Loreen) of Layton and Eston (Brenda) of Woods Cross; Two brothers Duane (Fran), Doyle and two sisters Ila Stewart and Beth (Dale) Saunders; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Verl was preceded in death by his parents and son Clay.
A viewing will be held Thursday July 18, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Spanish Valley Mortuary 386 North 100 West Moab, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 20, 2013 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. with funeral services starting at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist Mortuary located at 727 N 400 E Bountiful UT.
Thank you to his loving wife, Helen, for being there and taking care of him through his illness for the last several months. Also, thank you to the caregivers of Hospice in Moab.
