Warren Buchanan “Buck” Clifford

Warren Buchanan “Buck” Clifford, 86, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at South Ogden Post Acute.
He was born on March 25, 1930 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Douglas William Clifford and Mary Ann Buchanan Clifford. He married Naomi Vaun Knaphus on November 15, 1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Warren was raised in Denver, Colorado where he graduated from East Denver High School. He attended Brigham Young University and University of Utah and served in the U. S. Naval Reserve from 1950 to 1954.
He was a founder, president and CEO of Beehive International, a computer manufacturing business in Salt Lake City; prior to that he had worked at Marquardt Corporation in Ogden and North American Aviation in Los Angeles. With his business he had the opportunity to travel to Europe several times as well as many other countries. He retired in 1985.
After retirement, he and Naomi spent many winters in Sun City, Arizona where they enjoyed many different activities with friends. One of their favorite pastimes was attending weekly dances. He loved aviation, owned his own airplanes, was an accomplished pilot and received his multi-engine and instrument flight certification.
Warren was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including a counselor in the bishopric and 17 years as a Gospel Doctrine teacher.
Warren is survived by his wife, Naomi and five children, Warren Douglas Clifford (Denise), Kaysville, Utah; Blaine Edward Clifford (Melanie), North Ogden, Utah; Mary Christine Taylor (Lenn), Layton, Utah; Susan Kay Chrisman (Pat), Pleasant View, Utah; and Robert Brian Clifford (Peg), Salt Lake City, Utah. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Douglas William Clifford, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View 4th Ward Chapel, 3035 North 1325 West. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
