Wayne E. Andrews
NORTH OGDEN – Wayne Edward Andrews, 72, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 6, 1935 in Ogden, a son of Fred and Nellie V. Jones Andrews.
On February 1, 1957, Wayne married Barta Gay Potter in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was raised and educated in Green River, Wyoming and following his high school graduation, he moved to Ogden where he attended Weber State College. Following his marriage to Barta he served with the U.S. Army. He returned home and completed his Electronic Engineering Degree at Weber State College. He moved to Santa Maria, California obtaining his Masters degree in Business from USC, after which the family returned to Ogden where Wayne was a professor at Weber State University from 1968 to the time of his death. He was a prior Head of the Electronics Department.
Wayne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a High Priest. He served in numerous callings.
Wayne was a dedicated season ticket holder of Snowbasin Ski Resort. He enjoyed snowboarding along with skiing, mountain biking, white water rafting, kayaking, jeeps, off-road vehicles, camping, anything electronic and was an electronics gadget collector.
He was a wonderful grandpa and taught his grandkids how to ski, snowboard, and river raft. He also supplied hours of math tutoring. He spent many hours with his brother, son, and grandsons modifying their jeeps.
Surviving are his wife Barta of North Ogden; one son and two daughters, David (Debra) Andrews, and Toni (Steve) Schlange, both of North Ogden; Traci (Eric) White, Farr West; eight grandchildren, John, Shasta, Sharee, Chaz, D.C., Mason, Aspen, and Hudson; and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Dennis (MaryLou) Andrews, Roy; Vinece Andrews, Ogden.
Preceding Wayne in death were his parents and one son, Carey Andrews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 7th Ward Chapel, 205 E. Elberta Dr., with Bishop Craig White officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
