WAYNE ROBINSON BALLANTYNE
Wayne was born on August 7, 1926 in Cumberland, Wyoming, and passed from this world on September 29, 2010. He grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1944. He served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war he served an LDS mission in the Southern States Mission. He graduated from Weber State College where he played on the basketball team. He attended the University of Utah College of Law. Wayne had a long career with State Farm Insurance and worked in their California, Colorado, and Utah offices. He served on the Fruit Heights City Council in the 1970''s where he was instrumental in obtaining city sewer and toll free telephone rates to Ogden and Salt Lake for Davis county residents.
Dad was a faithful member of the LDS Church and spent countless hours studying the scriptures. We will always treasure his well-worn and well-loved scriptures. Even in his last years, when he had lost touch with so much of his formerly brilliant mind, he remained able to quote scriptures that were so deeply centered in his heart and mind. His dear friends, Patty and LeRoy Butler took him to Bible classes every week until he could no longer go. He loved Tuesday mornings with the Butlers.
Dad''s favorite place on earth, next to his home, was Yellowstone National Park. He visited there with great joy every year of his life since 1956. He loved fishing and boating on the beautiful Yellowstone Lake, and being with those he loved most in the world.
Dad had a ready laugh, a keen sense of humor, and he loved life. We will always remember his happy smile, the sparkle in his eyes, and his love for a good argument about politics or religion.
He loved his eternal companion, Bert, with all his heart, and our beloved sister, Robyn, who has Down Syndrome. He spent countless hours laughing and teasing with Robby-Bobby. She already misses him dearly. We love you Dad.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha (Van Drimmelen), son Todd (Julie), daughters Kristen (Henry Reisig), Michele (Arthur Berger), and Robyn, and grandchildren, Kiera and Jenika Reisig; Nathan, Ben and Zach Berger, and Eli Ballantyne.
