Wayne Darrell Bond was born on June 9, 1949 in Ogden, Utah to Vern Darrell and Phyllis E. Bond. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1967. He was track star in high school and enjoyed baseball and playing in his band.
After high school he was drafted into the Army. He served bravely and honorably, including a tour in Vietnam where he was awarded many medals of recognition; some of them were the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Medal of Valor.
Upon returning from Vietnam he married Rhea Lynn Taylor who was the love of his life. Their love could best be described as a true love story and he always put her first no matter what.
He worked as a warehouse supervisor on Hill Air Force Base for 42 years. After he retired from civil service, he continued working for the contractor URS/AECOM for 13 years.
He loved his family and grandkids and loved to sit back and take it all in at family gatherings. He loved watching races and betting on the winners. Papa will be missed by his 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Rhea, children Billie Jo Smith (Bill), Jodie Weech (Geoff), Brigett, Colby W. (Mary).
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road, where friends may visit with the family Tuesday, June 30th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, July 1st from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
