Wayne Baugh Bradshaw

Wayne Baugh Bradshaw, 96, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. He was born October 29, 1921 in Wellsville, Utah, to Robert Leatham and Ellen (Nellie) Baugh Bradshaw.

He married Adola Mathews in the LDS Logan Temple on December 12, 1939. They had two sons, Paul and Marvin and were divorced in 1946.

He married Betty Jane Dickamore on October 29, 1947 in Ogden and eight children were born of the union.

He grew up on a large farm. At the age of 10, Dad was working in the beet fields with the men. He worked for his father who had a contract with the coal company to deliver coal to their customers. Dad liked delivering the coal because he liked harnessing and driving the horses around town.

At age 16, Dad started playing softball on the men’s team, Morning Milk. He pitched and played short-field. His nickname was “Lefty.” He also went to work for the railroad.

In January 1942, Dad went to work at Hill Air Force Base. He worked on many types of aircraft including the B-17, B-24, P-38 and many jet aircraft. He trained, worked and served at several bases throughout the United States and Asia. He retired in 1976.

He was a veteran of World War II and visited Hiroshima in October 1945 to witness the devastation, two months after the dropping of the bomb. This experience affected him for the remainder of his life. He came home April of 1946.

In 1968, Dad took up the game of Bridge and became a Life Master. He loved crossword puzzles, baseball, had a great sense of humor and had a world class garden. He could fix anything. He provided for his family and was generous to a fault.

Wayne is survived by his children, Diane (Rex) Clark, Riverside, CA; Coleen Corbridge, Farmington, UT; Dean (Randy) Bradshaw, West Haven, UT; Marilyn (Steve) Smith, Centennial, CO; David (Rebecca) Bradshaw, Versailles, KY; Chris Bradshaw, South Weber; and James (Jeannie) Bradshaw, Parker, CO; 48+ grandchildren, 73+ great-grandchildren, and 12+ great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bradshaw; infant daughter, Jane Bradshaw; sons, Paul Bradshaw and Marvin Bradshaw; four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
