Wayne H. Child a.k.a. Uncle Willie, Will, Wilber, passed away March 15, 2023 with his sister, Zanna by his side. He was born on July 10, 1945 to Evan E. and Lucille Hodson Child. Starting as a very young boy, he was taught the value of hard work, integrity, and to save for a rainy day.
He worked on the family farm and other neighboring farms while attending elementary, junior high school, and high school; graduating from Weber High School. He later worked at Great Salt Lake and Mineral as a heavy equipment operator for 32 years while working on his farm.
When his mother’s health declined, he helped his sister care for her. Wayne was lovingly cared for, doted on, and spoiled by his sister, Zanna and his brother, Lorin. Wayne never married or had children of his own.
Wayne loved to travel with his sister and brother.
When he retired, his new hobby was sawing tree logs and splitting it into firewood. Thus, he earned his “pile it” license; “pile it here, pile it there, and pile it everywhere”.
It was his wish to have a private graveside service. He was laid to rest next to his beloved parents in the Warren/West Warren Cemetery. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Stefan Pulst and Dr. Nathan Ragle at the University of Utah.
In honor of Wayne, be kind to one another and find the courage to apologize to someone you have wronged.
