Wayne Kay Johnson
Wayne Kay Johnson, 87, peacefully passed away April 10, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 4, 1930 to Francis and Ella Johnson in Osgood Idaho. Dad was the 5th child of 10. He married his sweetheart, Jean Berger, in the Logan LDS Temple on Nov 18, 1959 and together they had five children.
Dad’s family and faith were very important to him. He enjoyed visits and outings with his family and friends, especially camping and 4-wheeling trips to Joe’s Valley. Dad never met a stranger and made wonderful friends everywhere including Gold’s Gym where he worked out 5 days a week. Dad loved working in his woodshop, often making picture frames with grandchildren that would later be given away for wedding presents.
Dad was also an inspiration to many as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission with his wife Jean in the West Virginia Charleston Mission and at the Ogden Temple.
Dad served in the Army in the infantry division and was stationed in Germany, and then worked at the DDO where he retired after 26 years. After his mission, he worked for Hughes Construction and for the LDS Church.
Dad is survived by his children; Kaye (David) Becker, Laurie (Lynn) Bishop, Sherry (Craig) Smith, RaNae (Dave) Van Orden, Merrill (Pam) Johnson, 32 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters; Delbert (Lunetta) Johnson, Lew (Dona) Johnson, Barbara Lowder, Colleen (Jim) Babcock. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean, four brothers and one sister.
