ROY- Wayne Lowder, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
He was born September 7, 1921 in Huntsville, Utah to Ira Sylvester and Thersa Chadwick Lowder.
Wayne served during WWII in the U.S. Marine Corps from May 26, 1942 until September 17, 1945, earning the Purple Heart.
He married Ileen Birt on October 5, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Wayne worked for Weber County Schools, and retired from Hill Air Force Base after 26 years of service as a jet electrician.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and outdoorsman. He loved to work in his yard and garden. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Ileen, two daughters, Charlene Lowder, Roy; Deborah (Blair) Gibson, Las Vegas, NV; three sons, Craig (Jean) Lowder, Azle, TX; Michael (Elizabeth) Lowder, West Valley, UT; and Rodney (Laura) Lowder, Riverton, UT. Also surviving 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Hunt, Plain City; and a brother, Shurl Lowder, Roy.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Patterson, and two brothers, Jay Lowder, and Doug Lowder.
A special thank you to the nurses at Intermountain Hospice for their loving and dedicated care of Wayne.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
Family and friends may call Sunday, August 2nd from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
