Wells entered the world on January 18, 2024. Much earlier than anticipated, he came at twenty- two weeks and four days gestation. He weighed a whopping one pound and six ounces. Tiny but mighty, Wells had a profound impact on those around him. Drawing people towards his beautiful soul and the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His story touched the lives of hundreds if not thousands of people. He inspired family, friends, strangers, and members of multiple faiths from all around the country and world to turn to the love of God and the power of prayer. Despite his tiny size, he could steal everyone’s heart. This was especially made evident by the nurses in the NICU and labor and delivery. Everyone who knew him knows he was a special soul. In the arms of his mama, our little good luck charm crossed to the other side on St. Patrick’s Day. His daddy, sister, and grandparents were by his side. We felt the angels awaiting his return with love. Along with our broken hearts, he leaves behind a legacy of hope and inspiration.
Wells was a brave little fighter who brought joy and love to everyone around him. He loved the simple things in life, like holding his parents and sisters’ fingers, listening to stories and lullabies, and the sound of his mama, dada, and sisters’ voices. His favorite treat was his mama’s milk, and he enjoyed the scent and comfort his cuddle cloths brought. He was quite fond of getting nice warm sponge baths when he could. Wells became a family celebrity and liked to put on shows and wave to them all through the angel eye camera. His cute habit of putting his tiny hands up by his face and crossing his little feet made him even more irresistible.
Even though he was small, Wells had a feisty spirit and never gave up. He fought valiantly for 60 days. He would even throw punches and kicks at the medical team from the day he was born. He enjoyed teasing the NICU nurses and respiratory therapists by wrapping his hands around his breathing tube and taunting us all.
Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we find solace in knowing that Wells is now free of pain, and in the loving presence of our Heavenly Parents. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. His bravery and fighting spirit will always inspire us. Forever our valiant warrior and loved by all. Until we meet again sweet boy, stay close until then.
He is survived by his loving parents, Katharine, and Justin, and two doting big sisters, Isla and Estella. His beloved grandparents also survived him, as well as many wonderful aunties, uncles, and cousins.
Thank you to Wells’ nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, and nurse practitioners at Ogden Regional Medical Center and Primary Children’s Hospital. Thank you for doing everything within your ability to support our baby boy. We are beyond grateful for all the time we had with Wells. You will forever have a special place in our hearts.
