Our sweet Father, Wells Jenkins Stephensen, 93, passed away Monday, April 29 2019 at his home in Roy Utah.

He was born in his parents’ home on March 26, 1926 in Ogden, Utah, to Chester Heber and Lucile Jenkins Stephensen. Growing up his family lived in Nyssa, Oregon and Ogden, Utah.

He proudly joined the USMC with his parents’ permission at the age of 17 and served from 1943 to 1946 during World War II, He was wounded on Iwo Jima and received a purple heart.

On November 14, 1947 Wells married the love of his life Roberta Jones in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on November 11, 1948.

Wells was a contractor owning Linoleum by Wells, he loved building whatever he could get his hands on. His love for his trade has influenced four generations of craftsmen, (him, his sons, his grandsons and his great grandsons). He finished his working career at Hill Air Force Base as a technical manager which took him all over the world.

They enjoyed bowling, fishing, archery hunting where he held the Utah State record for thirteen years. They served four missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, microfilming for the Genealogical Society, filming up and down the east coast of the United States.

Wells is survived by his children, David L. (Connie) Stephensen, Clinton; Wells Wayne (Nancy) Stephensen, West Weber; Diana (Rex) Widdison, Hooper; Lorie K Stephensen, Roy: 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Robie, brother Gerald, sister's Sarah and Genet, and 2 grandsons.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Roy 1st Ward Chapel, 5855 South 2575 West. The family will meet with friends Monday May 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 at the church.
