Wendell G. "Bing" Crosbie
ROY a" Wendell George Crosbie, 92, died peacefully at Beaver Valley Hospital in Beaver, Utah from complications of pneumonia on Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
He was born in Ogden, Utah to John Aird and Lorene Hilda Olmstead Crosbie on March 22, 1918. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1937.
Following his graduation from Ogden High, he worked for the Union Pacific and O.U.R. & D. Railroads and retired in 1975 with over 40 years of service. For 20 years he worked part time for St. Benedict''s Hospital. He was a World War II Veteran and took leave from his job at the railroad and joined the U.S. Navy in 1945.
Wendell had a great love for the outdoors. He was an avid fly fisherman, loved to pheasant hunt and play golf. One of his favorite things to do was dancing at the Golden Hours Senior Center on Saturday nights. Bing wore the biggest smile whenever his Kids and Grandkids would walk through his patio doors for a long visit.
Wendell is survived by his two daughters, Karen (Midge) Crosbie and RaNae (Bob) Davidson; one son, Scott W. (LeeAnn) Crosbie and one stepdaughter, Marge (Val) Barrutia. He had 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Wendell was preceded in death by his mother, father and his son, Gary C. Crosbie.
We have all been very blessed by the example, kindness, and honorable life that our father and grandfather lived.
The family would like to especially thank the Beaver Valley Hospital and Long Term Care facility, and all doctors, nurses and staff that took such good care of Wendell. They were very kind, understanding, helpful and compassionate.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will visit with friends at the mortuary on Saturday from 12:00 noon to 1:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
