Wesley Robert Anderson
Wesley Robert Anderson, 81, returned to his Heavenly Father on April 2, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 2, 1927 in Alhambra, CA, to Howard Nels and Ellen Russell Anderson. He married Martha Mae Wyland on November 26, 1948 in San Gabriel, CA and they recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary.
Wes served in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII and earned a B.S. in Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He was a design engineer in aerospace at Rockwell Int''l for over 30 years.
Wes was an Eagle Scout and served as scout master for many years. He loved and excelled at hiking, fishing, woodworking and gardening. He was known for his integrity, work ethic, friendly nature and affinity with animals.
Wes was a devoted member of the LDS Church, having converted in 1972 with his entire family. He served his family and others with humility and unconditional love and was without guile. He and wife, Martha served in the France Paris mission from `92-`93.
He is survived by wife, Martha; children, Cathy (Chuck) Whiting, Layton; Debi, Layton; Sharon (John) Barton, SLC; Scott (Lori), Riverton; Marilyn, Layton; 14 grandchildren: Scott (Steph), Carl (Melanie), Brant (Brooke), Eric (Jinaya), Trevor and Byron Whiting; Paul (Alyse), Brian (Rachel), Jared (Karlie), Matt and Ben (Hannah) Barton; Wesley, Kaylie and Wendy Anderson; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Howard (Margie), Ridgecrest, CA.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
