Wesley Leroy Ehlers
LAYTON a" Our loving husband, Dad, & Grandpa, Wesley Leroy Ehlers, age 75, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Layton, UT on March 23, 2013. He was born in Lodi, CA on July 22, 1937 to Henry & Clara Heinitz Ehlers.
He married Brenda Porter on November 7, 1958 in Elko, NV. Later they were sealed in the LDS Swiss Temple. Together they raised their 6 K''s with adventures all around the world.
He served in the Air Force for 23 years as an air traffic controller. He continued his employment at HAFB in the same field for 26 years with DOD. For the past 6 winters, Wes and Brenda have enjoyed being snowbirds in Quartzsite, AZ.
He was a fix-it man. He once took apart a truck engine in a campground parking lot and put it back together, good to go. Dad loved the outdoors. fishing, biking, panning for gold, working in the yard. A favorite was the family campout at their place every Memorial Weekend, rain, snow or shine. Marysville had become a favorite spot for 4-wheeling which was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved to be with family, and they loved to be with him. He meant a lot to a lot of people. And how do we fit all that into a few short lines.
Wes is survived by his wife, Brenda of 54 years; faithful dog, Shadow; his 6 K''s who knew how to "turn out a light" when leaving the room - Kevin, Koryn (Brad) Stevens, Kirt, Kelly (Kim), Kyle (Sally), Kris (Krystal); 21 grandchildren that won''t ever "smack their gum"; 19 great-grandchildren plus 2 on the way that were allowed to "smack their gum". He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Garciacelay and Geraldine Kincaid. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
A family memorial will be held on March 26, 2013.
Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
