Wesley Gapinski
Wesley Gapinski, 99, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Bountiful, Utah.
He was born July 13, 1908 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Albert and Anna Kazmierski Gapinski. He grew up in Bruce, Wisconsin graduating with honor from Bruce High School. Married Bernice Anderson in July 1937 later divorced.
Wesley enlisted in the US Army serving during WWII in both European and Far East theaters, received field commission as an officer, retiring as a Major after a 30 year career. After retiring from the Army, he worked for Thiokol and H&R Block where he was known as the “go-to-guy” for difficult tax questions. He had a great love for learning new things, a trait he pursued throughout his life.
He loved playing golf and bowling. Playing both well into his early nineties.
He is survived by his former wife; children Paul Gapinski (Linda), Carol Bangerter (Ron), Scott Gapinski (Charlene), 24 grandchildren and sister Helen Gudis. Preceded in death by his brothers Stanley and Leo.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Monday October 22, 2007 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E., where friends and family may call Sunday October 21 from 6-8 pm and 10-10:45 am Monday.
