Wesley Eugene Seabury
LAYTON a" Wesley Eugene Seabury, 92, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at his home surrounded by loving family and friends.
He was born May 6, 1920 in Salt Lake City, son of Wilmer and Zora Seabury. Wesley was reared in Salt Lake City, graduating from East High in 1937. He attended the University of Utah, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Wes married his sweetheart Leda Vance on July 1, 1941in Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved into the family home on McClelland Street in Salt Lake where they resided until moving to Layton in 2007. Leda preceded him in death on May 29, 2011.
Wes was a member of the LDS Church where he had many callings. He was the Bishop of the LeGrande Ward, served in the Park Stake, Stake Presidency, and he and Leda spent 21 years as temple workers in the Salt Lake Temple. His last calling as greeter for the Fairfield 2nd Ward gave him great joy.
Wes loved his family, music and doing cross-word puzzles.
Surviving are his children: Gerald Lynn, Salt Lake City; daughters Sharon Benedict, Layton; and Kathleen Cleveland, Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley Bowman, brother Gale Seabury and son Darrell Reed Seabury.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
