Weston Rees

September 24, 1990 — June 2, 2019

With deepest sorrow, Weston Eldon Rees age 28 our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend passed unexpectedly on June 2, 2019.

Those who knew Weston, have lost a shining light in their lives. Weston will be missed everyday by his Father, Michael Rees, his Mother, Starla Rees. His brother’s Kevron (Irene), Nathan (Staci), Ammon, Ashton (Nicole), Braydon, (Ashlee). His Sister’s Starlene (Ben) Hatch, Aimie (Aaron) Christensen, twin sister - Sharae (Josh) Franke, Allison and MiKayla, 15 nieces and nephews that adored him dearly, and the love of his life, and fiancé, McKenzie along with her two sons Korey and Kehloni Weaver.

We know Weston is now with his sister Christine Rees, his grandparents, Calvin and Ellen Rees, Georgia and Milo House, Ronald Rees. Survived by his grandmother Ruth Rees.

Weston graduated in 2009 from Roy High School. He had a great passion for football and played for several semi pro football teams. Weston served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern German/Austria.

Weston was a son who was strong enough to know when he was weak and brave enough to face himself when he was afraid; one who was proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory. He shared his self-taught talents of music with those he honored, expressing his deepest emotions in his personal written songs.

He was one who knew his Heavenly Father, and knew him as the foundation stone of knowledge. He lived his life in the path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. He learned to stand up in a storm; and learned compassion for those who failed.

Weston’s heart was clean; his goals were high and he had the ability to master himself before he thought to judge others. He was one who laughed, yet never forgot how to weep; one who reached into the future, yet never forgot the past. And after all these things; he added a sense of humor and always made others laugh. He came across as serious, yet never took himself too seriously. He was humble and always remembered the simplicity of greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, and the meekness of true strength.

Weston cared about people in the purest way. He loved them for who they were, and he wished the best for them, without guile and without asking anything in return. He had so much goodness, so much capacity to bring happiness to others and such a bright future. The world has diminished greatly without him.

While we always felt we had some grip on Weston’s issues, his ability to hide and disguise his addiction proved superior to our parental and sibling sixth sense. The worry that we have felt watching Weston struggle, has been replaced by a deep feeling of loss that now exists. One of his dreams was to start a nonprofit organization creating awareness for drug addiction and how to support those you love that struggle each day. Despite Weston troubles, we can smile knowing that the last communication we had with him was text messages between mother and son to say “I love you”, just as it should be. #TeamWesReesY’all
