Whitney Gertge

January 5, 2003 ~ June 28, 2011

Whitney Gertge, age 8, returned home to her Heavenly Father early Tuesday morning, June 28, 2011 unexpectedly following a short illness.

Whitney was born January 5, 2003 in Ogden, Utah to her parents Kenneth Michael and Abby Racker Gertge.

Whitney loved everyone and made everyone around her happy. She is a responsible, helpful 8 year old who mothered her twin brother and comforted anyone in need with a hug.

She just completed 2nd grade at Mountain View Elementary where she loved her teachers and friends. Her favorite classes were Library and Art. She played piano, loved music, singing, playing with her sister, friends, cousins and her dog, Fiero. She enjoyed swimming, Lagoon, vacations, dolphins and Sundays with family.

Whitney was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in January by her father.

She is survived by her parents of Layton; sister Kenadee, twin brother William, grandparents Edward and Arlene Gertge of Layton; Val and Suzan Johnson of South Weber; Stan and Michele Racker of Roy; and many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her cousin Andrew Gertge.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Northridge Stake Center, 2375 E. 3225 N. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
