Whitney Mariah Potter

"Baby Hope" 1998-2011

Whitney Mariah Potter, beloved daughter and sister, returned home to her Father in Heaven Wednesday, May 25, 2011 after a lifelong battle with a rare chromosome disorder. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.

On April 29, 1998, God blessed the world with an Angel that would bless the lives of many. Her six-month life expectancy turned into a blessed 13 years. As the only girl in a family of eight children, Whitney was our little princess and gift from heaven.

She was the perfect example of the pure love of Christ. She had a special way of making everyone feel loved and like they were the center of her little universe. She was always more concerned of others than of herself, even during her final hours. It wasn''t uncommon that the tears and pain of one of her brothers would also bring her to tears. She was full of life and had a love for it that was matched only by her love for her brothers, their wives and their "babies," her nieces and nephews. She loved to draw and take care of her baby dolls and play mommy. Whitney was active in the LDS Church, and looked forward to going to Young Women''s every Sunday.

From the time she was a baby even to the end, that striking smile never left her beautiful face. She was and always will be our little princess and will be deeply missed by us all.

"She was sent to earth from heaven''s hand, In Heavenly Father''s master plan. Although her life was short lived, she taught us all what love should give. Whitney Mariah Potter, precious sister, beloved daughter. In our hearts she will always be loved, returned to God''s Kingdom forever above. Not in death but only in sleep. Until the day again we''ll meet."

She is survived by her loving parents, Raymond and Naoma, and her seven brothers: Jason (DeAnn), Rich (Shelley), Kevin (Elena), Ray Jr. (Traci), Brandon (Hailey), Ben (Hilarie) and Eric; Grandma Bernice Potter (Jerry Wilson), and Grandma Donna Waters. Preceded in death by her Aunt Shirley Waters, her Uncle Bob Ward, her Grandfather Joseph Waters, her Uncle Bill Waters and Grandfather James Potter.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the hospice providers from Intermountain Healthcare who helped make her last few days comfortable, Rainbow Kids and Make a Wish Foundation for granting her wish of being a princess, and all the doctors and nurses at Primary Children''s Medical Center and WeeCare who have taken such great care of Whitney throughout the years. We''d also like to thank the Clearfield 16th Ward Young Women, Lindquist''s Mortuary, and all those who selflessly served, prayed, supported, and loved her and our family.

Those who wish to bid Whitney farewell can do so Friday May 27, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.

The celebration of Whitney''s life will be held Saturday May 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Clearfield South Stake Center, 2186 S. 125 W, Clearfield, UT. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
