Willem Jan Pluim Jr. “Wim”

November 10, 1947 – February 10, 2014

Wim was born on November 10, 1947 in Nijmegen, Holland to Willem Jan Pluim and Catharina G. Frederiks, the oldest of eight children. When Wim was nine years old, he emigrated from Holland to Utah with his family.  The family first settled in Tooele. They later moved to Salt Lake City and finally settled in South Weber.  Wim later returned to Holland and served as an LDS missionary from 1967-1969. Wim graduated from Clearfield High and attended Weber State University. Wim worked in sales for HD Supply for 26 years and served the community of South Weber as the voluntary fire chief for 34 years.

Wim married his best friend, Carol Ann Nix, on May 15, 1970 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Three sons – Billy, Tim, and Mike later joined their family. He enjoyed spending time with his family fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. Wim was a master carpenter, craftsman, and artist.

Wim is survived by his wife, Carol; sons Billy (Marisa), Tim (Donna), and Mike (Susan), and 9 grandchildren who were the light of Opa’s life.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the South Weber 1st Ward, 1385 East South Weber Dr.  Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., and Monday from 9:30  to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Uintah City Cemetery.
