William “Dale” Allred

Dale Allred, our Hero, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Ogden, Utah.  He was born in Loa, UT on February 15, 1936 to James and Lidia Allred.  He was raised in Loa/Salina area where he met his sweetheart Lorraine.  They were married in 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada and later married in the Los Angeles Temple.  They had a very close relationship throughout their marriage.  Lorraine and her twin Loretta took magnificent care of Dale in his later years as he suffered from Alzheimer’s.  Dale joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and was active duty for 22 years.  He retired from Hill Air Force Base as a Master Sergeant.  After retiring from the Air Force he worked in the banking industry from which he also retired.  Dale was a wonderful Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle and Friend.  He was a giving and loving man.  Dale enjoyed spending time with his 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  He was especially fond of babies.  He showed us all what unconditional love really was.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed being the host at Magpie campground in Ogden Canyon.  He loved sports of any kind, fishing, camping, hunting, Nascar and golf.  Dale had many hobbies and was always busy doing something or helping others.  He was a member of the LDS Church and served many functions during his life.

Dale is survived by his wife Lorraine, sister-in-law Loretta, and three children, Mike (Penny) Allred, Layton; Kerry (Malynda) Allred, Layton; and Sandy (Brett) Hodson, West Point.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Darr and two sisters Manon and Delora.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Layton West Stake Center, 1715 W. 1600 N., Layton.  Friends and family may visit Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
