"The Goat" has died.
William "Bill" Halvor Norseth, known affectionately as "The Goat", was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and member of the Roy, Utah, community. He passed away on August 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication and hardheadedness. Born on November 2, 1938, in Ogden, Utah, Bill was the son of Lorin and Norma Norseth.
A proud graduate of Ben Lomond High School, Bill was not only dedicated to his career but also to his education. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bill's journey in life was marked by service and dedication. After serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart, he returned and embarked on a career with Utah Power and Light. His commitment to his work was unwavering, reflecting his disciplined and hardworking nature.
From a previous relationship, he gained his son, K.C., and then he met the love of his life, Barbara. Together, they built a life in Roy and were blessed with their daughter, Lori. Bill's family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In his leisure time, Bill found solace in the great outdoors. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and sheep herding. In his retirement years, he even lent his expertise to local ranches, showcasing his dedication to hard work and his love for the land.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Barbara J. Norseth; his son, Kenyon "K.C." Charles (Judy) Norseth of Kaysville, Utah; daughter, Lori (Ed) Brophy of Plain City, Utah; 9 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd Norseth, Don Norseth, Keith Norseth; sisters, Barbara Hincks, Mary Wayment; and grandson, Mac Brophy.
Bill's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His unwavering commitment to his family, his work ethic, and his kind heart will forever be remembered. May his legacy of love and dedication live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
