William "Bill" Lynn Thomas a long-time resident of Layton, Utah peacefully ended his mortal journey here on earth November 27, 2023 at the age of 80 years old at Pine View Transitional Rehabilitation after suffering a stroke.
Bill was born October 8, 1943 in Heber City, Utah to Austin H. and Helen Ida Bailey Thomas, number two out of five siblings. At the age of eight his family moved to Layton, Utah where he attended school at dear old Davis High School.
Bill is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he enjoyed visiting with ward members and his ministering brethren.
Bill started working at a very young age and later met and married Jeanne Taylor in January 1964 and together they had six children, five sons and one daughter. They were later divorced.
Bill married Tennice Green on October 21, 1978 in Elko, Nevada and together they resided in Layton, Utah throughout his life. She brought one daughter to the marriage and together they had a son.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, watching western movies, and he loved to dance. He loved his family and spending time with them. Bill’s love for work was in General Construction all along the Wasatch Front until the age of 74, when he could no longer work due to having a stroke.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Tennice and their blended family: Robert (Eileen) Thomas, Eden, UT, Danene (Don) Phillips, West Weber, UT, Jason (Cyndi) Thomas, Plain City, UT, Jenny (Dave) Marsh, Mantua, UT, Steven (Carolyn) Thomas, Roy, UT, Kerry (Tami) Thomas of Florida, two sisters; Shirley (Ron) Walton, Las Vegas, NV, Linda (Bill) West, Mountain Green, UT, sister-in-law Edie Thomas of St. George, UT, and a special neighbor, mother-in-law Joyce Jamieson.
Though our hearts ache with his departure, we take much solace in knowledge that he is out of pain, no longer inhibited by his failing mind and body, and that he has been reunited with his loved ones.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Austin and Helen Thomas, two sons; Larry Thomas and Cloyd Thomas, one sister Kathleen Cooper, a brother Ron Thomas, and a grandson Brandon Phillips.
He was blessed to be a grandfather and to have 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and great-grand twins on the way.
