William "Bill" Donald Blood

RIVERDALE a€" William D. Blood died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at his home in Riverdale.

He was born August 2, 1932 in Ogden, a son of Donald Robins and Therma Leone Ellis Blood.

Bill married Sarah Jane Bunderson on November 12, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were later divorced.

He was raised and educated in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School in 1950. He also graduated from Weber State (Weber Junior College) with an Associate''s Degree in 1953.

Bill entered the U.S. Naval Reserves in December of 1950 and honorably discharged in December of 1962.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Riverdale 2nd Ward where he served as the finance clerk, in the name extraction program and a home teacher.

He retired from Mountain Fuel Supply Company following many years of service.

Bill enjoyed playing softball and pitched for Sav-On. He was inducted into the Utah Softball Hall of Fame in June of 1999. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who cherished his many memories of the yearly deer hunts. Surviving are his three children, Julie (Ren) Weaver, Vancouver, WA; Janna (Perry) Olsen, Perry, UT; Michael William (Wendee) Blood, Oregon City, OR; 15 grandchildren, Christopher, Bryce, Lynsey (Dan) Eicher and Hayley Weaver, Ryker (Kortney), Landon, Jordan, Tanner, and Conner Olsen, Benjamin (Paige), BrieAnna, and Bridger Blood, and two great-grandchildren, Evan Eicher and Penn Olsen.

Also surviving are one sister, Carolyn Lakey, his Aunt Bernice Neal, cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter DeAnn Blood, brother-in-law Jim Lakey, and nephews Steven Lakey and Scott Halverson.

Our family would like to give special thanks to Dad''s neighbors for their loving care and watchful eye over him, especially the Dance and Reed Families.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 9 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will visit with friends at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

Dad, our hearts are broken because you are no longer with us but we are comforted to know that you are standing tall, walking without pain and having a joyous reunion with your parents and daughter. We love you.
