“Wally Brown, Scoutmaster” 1916 ~ 2011 SALT LAKE CITY - William Wallace Brown 94, died Sunday, April 10, 2011. He was born August 25, 1916 in Ogden, Utah to Wallace Brown and Rose McFarland. He married Berendina Post January 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died February 1994. He married Della Greer April 1995. She died May 2010. Wally lost his father at two and his mother at 13. He was raised by his brother, Roscoe Bowman. Preceded in death by his brother and two sisters. He became involved in scouting as a young boy and said it kept him from getting in really serious trouble. He dedicated over 50 years to scouting as scoutmaster or in other positions. He saw many young men receive their Eagle Scout award through his efforts and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver award. Surviving children are Rose Olds (Carl); Elja Anderson (Don); Patricia Brown (Michael Wiest), 14 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 18 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Sunday, April 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wally’s name to the Boy Scouts of America.
