William Duke

William Duke fell asleep in death December 10, 2022, he was 91 years old. He was born on July 31, 1931 to Theodore and Lillian Duke. He was the oldest of seven siblings. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1949. He spent four years in the Air Force.

Bill married Ruth Jackson on December 5, 1951, in Malad, Idaho. They were married just shy of 68 years with Ruth passing away September 1, 2019. 

Bill is survived by three siblings, Helen, Ted, George and his daughters, Jean (Ray) Layne and Julie Duke. He had 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. 

Bill was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1972 and was passionate about sharing Bible truth.  Bill’s other passions were his family, sports, animals, and automobiles. At age 90 he purchased a 2019 Dodge Challenger just to hear the motor running and boy did it run. Bill was inducted into the Utah State Amateur Softball Hall a Fame in 1986 for his 18 years in the Ogden and Salt Lake leagues. If there was one, he would be inducted into the Hall of Fame for grandpas. Overall, he will be remembered as a simple, decent, and generous man. The family would like to thank Jean and Ray Layne for the comfort and care they gave Bill, specifically over the last three years.   

Family graveside services were held on Friday at the Logan Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
