William H. Essex
RIVERDALE – William H. Essex, loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, August 25, 2007. He was welcomed home by his mom, dad, other loved ones and friends who passed on before him.
He was born April 11, 1940 in Alliance, Nebraska, to Willard and Maxine Essex.
Bill married his high school sweetheart, Mariellen Weaver, on July 4, 1959 in Anaheim, California. Bill and Mari were married for 48 wonderful years.
Bill was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed handball and lifting weights, as well as walking his dog. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters, Aubree Dawn (12), and Mayzee Leila (4). They were the light of his life.
Bill worked for the Anaheim Police Department for 15 years where he maintained strong relationships with his retired fellow officers. Bill ended his police career of 35 years and retired as Chief of Police from the University of California at Davis. He touched so many lives and will deeply missed.
His family would like to thank all those who have provided their love and support through this difficult time.
Bill leaves behind his wife Mariellen, two granddaughters, Mayzee and Aubree, two children, Rome and Kasey, and brother Mike Essex, of Rancho Murieta, CA.
