William “Bill” Arthur Froerer
January 3, 1928 ~ July 18, 2018
Our beloved father, William “Bill” Arthur Froerer, passed away from natural causes. His daughters were by his side as he drifted peacefully, returning to his heavenly home. He lived a life of service and adventure.
Bill was born in Ogden, UT to Myra and Fredrick Froerer and was the fourth of six siblings. He attended Polk Elementary School where he enjoyed riding his pony to school at an early age. While attending Ogden High School, he was drafted into the military during WWII causing him to miss his graduation ceremony. He was attached to the Commander of the Amphibious Forces, USS Eldorado where he served for two years. After his release from the Navy, Bill attended Weber College and the University of Utah. He then attended Insurance Business classes in New York and San Francisco before becoming a career Insurance Broker.
In 1966, Bill married Susan Parkinson; together they had four children and fostered two sons who they later adopted. They later divorced but were able to remain friends, sharing many family and life events.
Bill inherited his love for music and theatre from his mother and often attended performances of the symphony and ballet. He loved the outdoors and was often found camping, fishing, hunting, and sharing these passions with his family. He was an accomplished archer as a young man. He raised pheasants and chuckers on his Huntsville farm and always had a loyal hunting dog by his side.
Bill was a willing and humble servant of his Lord, Jesus Christ, and will be remembered for his service-oriented life. He gave his time freely and willingly to his church, community and anyone in need. He volunteered at McKay Dee Hospital for over fifteen years transporting patients. He once said that the greatest joy he has ever experienced came from service to others.
Bill was fortunate to be able to live with family until his death, and was cared for by his daughters. Thank you to our sister, Kristen, for her tireless care of our dad and to our mom for allowing our father to stay in her home after his accident. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Aspen Senior Care, A Plus Hospice Nurses, and to all of the other caretakers who were so kind and generous to our father.
Bill is survived by his sister, Gayle Richards (John); his children, Kristen Froerer Ruffner (Duane), Dan Hess Froerer (Amy), Jennifer Young, Audrey South; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Myra Froerer; three brothers, one sister, and his son, William T. Froerer; adopted son, William (Billy) Wogan; and grandson, Spencer Tramell Froerer.
In lieu of flowers, family asks for donations to sent to Aspen Senior Care Center in Provo, UT.
