William E. Goodell, Jr.

William E. Goodell, Jr. passed away from heart failure in the early morning of Monday, May 12, 2014.  He was born on August 4, 1933 to the late William E. and Hazel Anna Nelson Goodell.  He was the 4 th of 7 children.  He graduated from Weber High School and attended WSC where he played football.

On April 23, 1953, he married his sweetheart, Elaine Passey, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  He willingly and proudly served his country in the Korean War.  William was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held several positions throughout his lifetime.  He loved playing sports and enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren’s games.  He was also a coach and referee.

Surviving are three sons, Blaine (Terri) Goodell, Craig (Robyn) Goodell, and Scott (Patti) Goodell; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He has six sisters and one brother, Florence Rogerson, Muriel Weeks, Hazel Andrus, Cookie (Jerry) Gibson, and Ted Amsler.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Passey Goodell; daughter, Laurie Elaine Goodell; sister, Glardean Schutte, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
