William J. Gray, Sr.
April 11, 1946 ~ April 9, 2017
William J. Gray, Sr., 70, of Roy, Utah, passed away in his home on Sunday, April 9, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born April 11, 1946 and raised in Indianapolis, IN. He was affectionately known as “Popo” and “20$ Bill” by all those who loved and cherished him.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Anna Gray, three children, Amy Slocumb, Sharon (Ted) Anderson, William J. Gray, Jr., and one sister, Linda Evan. He was preceded in death by mother, MayEtta Baxter, sister, Bobetta Stocking, and brother, Delford Gray. William has nine grandchildren, Shawna Allred, Mathew Anderson, Ashley Schooler, Austin Anderson, Chad Anderson, Tiann Stewart, Triston Gray, Tyrell Gray, and Nathaniel Slocumb. He also has nine great-grandchildren with another one due in October, and many nieces and nephews; he loved them all very much.
Popo loved to spend his time metal detecting at parks while he watched his grandkids play on the jungle gym. He loved to watch Sci-Fi movies whenever he could, but the one thing he loved most was being surrounded by his loved ones, laughing and smiling.
The way to his heart was through coffee and donuts.
Popo was one of the most caring men to ever walk this earth. He would help anyone in need no matter the situation. It didn’t matter what kind of life you lived, you were always perfect to him. Once he loved you, he never stopped. He loved with his whole heart and nothing less. His love was so great and unconditional it should be considered the 8th wonder of the world.
Popo served in the military for 23 years including two tours in Vietnam.
Popo’s love for the Lord was the reason he was such a good man. It brought him comfort and serenity in his last days.
