William A. Hoagland

October 16, 1922-September 20, 2008

Surrounded by family who came from far away places, William Alden Hoagland left this life to return to his Father in Heaven, on September 20, 2008 in Bountiful, Utah.

William was the firstborn son of Eric Helden and Lucinda Gregory Hoagland. His grandmother delivered him at her home in Sandy, Utah. He was the oldest of five siblings: Lewis, Doris Begent, Carol Leak, and Carl.

William was a good and generous man. He would have celebrated his 86th birthday in 25 days. He accomplished many things in those years. In his youth he joined the Air Corps and served for three years in the European Theatre during WWII. Upon his return he met and married Eleanor May Fassman on September 13, 1947 in Salt Lake City. He loved their five children David (Eva) Hoagland, Las Vegas; Jim (Kathy) Hoagland, Las Vegas; Kathy (Jay) Hanson, Springville UT; Joanne (Rob) Schulthies, Salem OR and Chris (Steve) Jones, Issaquah, WA. Sixteen children call him grandpa and he has added 10 great-grandchildren to that number.

William was a devout and dedicated member of the LDS Church. He served honorably in many positions. Being Bishop of the Bountiful Fourth Ward for five years brought him much joy and many dear friends.

He was educated at the U of U in business and spent the past thirty-five years in the real estate business.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Tuesday September 23, 2008 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends and family may call Monday September 22 from 6-8 pm and 12:45-1:45 pm prior to the services.
