William "Bill" Harold Hudson

I, William Harold Hudson, left this mortal existence Monday, November 26, 2012, at home in the arms of my loving wife. I was born on November 3, 1937 in Ogden, Utah to Harold Henry Hudson and Eva Clawson. My dad died when I was seven years of age, and I was raised by my Mother and Grandparents. I attended grade school in Willard, Utah, high school at Box Elder High and Weber State University where I served as Student Body President for both. I later graduated from Utah State University, and then BYU where I received my Master''s Degree of Education. I served an LDS mission to the beautiful islands of Samoa from 1957 to 1959. In 1960, I married Cora Mellor in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Our union was blessed with four amazing children, Alan William, Janet, Carol and Linda. Janet died in infancy. We later divorced. I served as a bishop of the Ogden 40th Ward as well as numerous callings and responsibilities through the years, including serving on the High Counsel, Young Men''s President, High Priest Group Leader, and home teacher. I wrote and directed a Ward Road Show in West Warren. In 1986, I met and married Sharon Thompson. She is the love of my life, my dearest companion and best friend. She has three children; Terrie, Shawna, and Jerod and I loved them as my own. Together we lived in West Warren, West Jordan, and Clinton. We met wonderful people wherever life took us and we have dear, dear friends in all of these locations. I worked in the field of education for 37 years serving as teacher, principal and educator. I loved my special needs students'' heart and soul. Teaching was a great joy for me. I taught in Ogden, Weber, and Davis Counties. I loved to snow ski, water ski, roller skate, golf, play racquetball, boat, camp, fish, eat chocolate, and tell silly jokes (Family note: Actually they were ''dumb'' jokes... ). I especially enjoy being around wonderful people. Bill is survived by his adoring wife, Sharon; his children: Alan (Debra) Hudson, Carol (Jon) Hodson, Linda (Jim) Dix, Terrie (Bryan) Daybell, Shawna (Brady) Young, and Jerod Thompson. 21 Grandchildren: David, Zack, Krystal, Kylee, Jordan, Charlie, Paige, Megan, Breann, Kelsey, Rachel, Jacklyn, Jessica, Clint, Emily, Morgan, Katee, Tanner, Praxton, Riley, and Sharon, and six great-grandchildren. There are many extended family members that he loved and appreciated. I am preceded in death by my daughter, Janet, my sister, Pam Hudson, my parents, one grandson, Cody and one great-granddaughter, Brynlee. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2005. In the years that followed more diagnoses of diseases followed and his body became more weighed down with trials. He was unable to serve and help those in need as he wished. Through all that he never complained. He was a great example to all those that knew him and both his upbeat attitude and courage were inspiring. With grateful hearts the family thanks Harmony Home Health & Hospice. The care he received at their kind capable hands was phenomenal. No words can express the joy Bill felt when a ''last wish'' was granted and made possible by Harmony to see the 007 movie ''Skyfall''. What a gift to him! Thank you Tara, Anna -Marie, Michael, and Daniel for your love and kindness shown to Dad and our Family. We love you! Funeral services will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Thursday, November 29th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment Roy City Cemetery.
