William J. “Bill” Kapp

November 30, 1941 ~ September 27, 2017

The strongest, most genuine, fun-loving, wrangler and cowboy boot wearing husband, dad and grandpa, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Bill was born in Ogden, Utah on November 30, 1941 to Derk and Edna Kapp.

He married JoDene Nielson and together they had four children: Debbie, Don, Denise and Danette.

Dad tinkered in many jobs throughout his adventurous life, but it was his 37 dedicated years with the Union Pacific Railroad where he found his love for trains and his second family with his never forgotten, fellow “railroaders.”

Dad was kind, witty, hard-working and stubborn. He loved his family unconditionally and taught us how to be funny, work hard for what we want, always be ourselves, swear creatively and never pass up tools or money lying on the ground. He was mischievous, but honest, a joker, but gracious, a giver of his love, attention and time, whether he was feeling well or not. Dad’s gentle and loving soul will be missed not only by his family, who loved and adored him, but by all the people’s lives he touched (and gave a hard time to) along the way.

He is survived by his wife JoDene, children: Debbie (Curtis), Don (Lisa), Denise (Frank), Danette (Rich), 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.

Friends may visit with family at a viewing held Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

To honor the most simple and loving man, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society and go enjoy a hamburger and coke.
