William H. Lucero
On Wednesday morning, September 28, 2011, we lost our loving husband, father, grandfather, and pops and Ogden lost one of its greatest sports enthusiasts to kidney failure. William H. Lucero was born on February 12, 1936 in ParkView, New Mexico. He was the second son of eleven children born to Ubaldo A. and Beatrice Lucero. He grew up in Ogden, Utah attending Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School in 1954.
On March 21, 1954 Bill married his junior high school sweetheart Pat Littleford. They were blessed with five loving children.
Bill was employed as a computer programmer at Hill Air Force Base for 33 years. After retirement he worked in real estate and enjoyed the friendships made through his work.
There was never a more avid sports fanatic than Bill. He was his grandchildrens’ number one sports fan. He never missed a game even when the children were no longer playing. He enjoyed any sporting event the Weber State Wildcats were hosting. Bill was proud of the fact that he had held season tickets to Weber State Football and Basketball for over 40 years. He truly bled purple. He was a devoted fan of the Ogden Raptors holding season tickets since their inception. He was a member of the Wildcat Club and the Ogden Noon Exchange Club.
Bill was a genuine cowboy and enjoyed volunteering to help disabled children ride horses with the Freedom Riders at the Golden Spike Arena. He raised, showed and raced horses throughout his lifetime.
Bill is survived by his caring wife Pat, four daughters and one son: Debbie (Jim) Rocco, Linda Lambert, Kathy (Kevin) Black, Calene, Robert (Kristi) Lucero; nine grandchildren: Brad (Carrie) Rocco and Breanne Rocco, Jennifer (Preston) Warren, Nicole (Bryan) Jeffreys, Sean Lambert, Dustin Black, Eric (Lacey) Black, Kimberlee (Andrew) Winterton and Joshua Lucero; seven great-grandchildren with one to be born soon: Kennedy Hamilton, Austyn, Makaila and Taylor Rocco, Lucy and Grace Jeffreys, Jace Lucero, and Baby Owen Winterton. He is also survived by two brothers, six sisters, three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
