William James Maxwell, known to all as Jim, was born on July 10, 1928 to John Delbert Maxwell and Margaret Ann Torrance in Rollette, North Dakota. He was the youngest of three children.
He passed away on November 25, 2018 at his home in Clearfield, Utah.
He was a graduate of Ogden High School. During the Korea Conflict he served in the 45th Army Division, where he served as a courier in the Mobile Infantry Unit. After his discharge he obtained employment at Hill Air Force Base, where he had worked part-time before being drafted into the Army. He worked as a warehouseman, first in the LP store and later in the Commissary warehouse. He became supervisor of each operation. He retired from there in 1985.
On January 12, 1953, he married Lola Delcomte and was the father of five children.
He leaves behind his wife of 67 years Lola, children, David (Nancy) Maxwell, Terry Maxwell, Teresa (Jim) Thompson, Susan (Barry) Gunning, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Kathy, grandchildren John Maxwell, Sheryl Oldfield, parents, brother Archie and sister Evelyn (Leonard) Butcher.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
