William Harold McClure
William Harold McClure, 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, August 20, 2010 due to age related causes at his home in Kaysville, Utah.
He was born on November 17, 1922 to Dock McClure and Myrtle Lewis McClure in Handley, Texas.
Bill married Effie Francis Archer, a union that would produce two sons, Harold and Jim. They were later divorced. He then married Ruth Pendleton and had two daughters, Tammy and Anna, and a son Wayne (deceased). They later divorced. On July 8, 1966, Bill finally married the love of his life, Jennie Jean Higgs Bulkley and took as his own her two daughters from a previous marriage, Tamara and Twila Jean. Bill and Jennie then had a daughter of their own, Tina.
Bill served his country during World War II as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at Stockton Field in Stockton, CA. In 1950, he moved to Hill Air Force Base and worked as an aircraft electrician until his retirement in 1975.
Bill loved country and bluegrass music and was an accomplished guitarist, banjoist and fiddler. Bill always had a mischievous glint in his eye and would drop a prank on anyone who was not ready for it at anytime. He was also the most caring, giving gentleman we have ever had the privilege of knowing.
You were an inspiration Dad, and Grandpa we will miss you.
Survived by his wife Jennie McClure, sons, Harold Archer, Jim (Kelly) Archer, step-daughters, Tamara Lee (Dale) Chapman, Twila Jean (Clinton) Douglas, daughters, Tammy (Mark) Johnson, Anna (Mark) Henzi, Tina (Curtis) Mortensen, 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, sisters Inez Hurst, Virginia Friend, brothers, Frank McClure and Lloyd (Bub) McClure.
Preceded in death by his parents, son Wayne, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
